February 15th 2025 marked a special moment for Cheylesmore Community Centre; our very first car boot sale. The centre was filled with energy as people from across the community came together to browse tables stacked with hidden treasures, pre-loved finds, and handcrafted goods. The day was buzzing with excitement, friendly conversations, and the joy of discovering unique items while connecting with neighbours.
What is a Car Boot Sale?
For those who may be new to the concept, a car boot sale is a beloved British tradition where people gather to sell items from the back of their cars or at small tables. It’s a mix of market-style shopping and treasure hunting, where you can stumble upon everything from vintage gems and second-hand clothes to books, toys, and homemade crafts. But more than just a place to buy and sell, car boot sales are a beautiful reminder of the power of community; bringing people together to share, recycle, and support one another.

- Rectangle: 1.82m (L) x 0.76m (W) x 0.74 (H)
- Large Round: 1.52m (D) x 0.76m (H). Once the long ones are used.
